Hiring - Dramaturg for

‘The Brotherhood’

We are seeking a dramaturg to work with us as we continue development of our play, ‘The Brotherhood’, which is being developed with funding from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council.

About the show

Presented in the style of a contemporary magic show, ‘The Brotherhood’ provides a feminist commentary on the performance industry, and the expectations placed upon performers and audiences alike. Why do we go along with unsettling performances, or allow manipulative and morally questionable artists to climb to the top?

Contract details

Expected 20 hours of work with the dramaturg, taking place between Feb 28 and May 31, 2022. Spicy Day will present an invited workshop in May 2022, in Toronto, ON, although applicants from anywhere in Canada will be considered as work can take place virtually.

The play is audience participation heavy, and confronts themes of misogyny, sexual misconduct in the performance industry, and gender politics.

BIPOC and individuals who have lived experience of these themes will be prioritized.

This is a non-union contract with a flat fee of $700, tax inclusive.

Interested folks can please contact spicydaytheatre@gmail.com with a brief note about your experience and interest.

Applications will remain open until the position is filled.

Thank you for your interest, we look forward to hearing from you!
